2U

About project
2U is a pet treat brand built around a simple but powerful idea: care as a personal gesture. In a category often dominated by visual noise, overloaded packaging, and familiar pet clichés, the goal was to create a brand that felt clear, modern, and emotionally direct.

The project was developed for the mass-market segment, which made clarity and recognizability especially important. The brand needed to work fast on shelf, translate well into digital retail environments, and stay scalable across a growing product range.
The challenge
The pet treats category is highly saturated, and most products compete using the same predictable tools: pet photography, crowded layouts, loud claims, and overly familiar visual codes. As a result, many brands look interchangeable and struggle to build a clear identity.

The challenge was to create something distinctive without becoming visually heavy or overly designed. The brand needed to stand out through a strong idea and a clear system rather than through clutter.
Naming
The project began with the name. I came up with '2U' as a play on the phrase to you, a short, emotionally loaded expression that turns feeding into an act of giving. It made the brand feel personal from the very beginning, as if each product was chosen not just for a pet, but offered with care.

The name was simple, memorable, and strategically strong because it communicated both emotion and direction at once. It gave the brand an immediate idea to build on, one that felt warm, modern, and easy to recognize.
Design Concept
What made the idea even stronger was that it extended naturally into the product itself. Each treat combined two flavours, which meant the '2' was not just part of the name, but part of the actual product experience.

That connection between naming and product became the foundation of the brand. It gave the identity internal logic and allowed the visual system to feel concept-driven rather than decorative.
The Solution
I translated the idea of duality directly into the packaging design. Each pack was divided into two bold colour blocks, representing the two flavours inside. This created instant clarity, stronger shelf presence, and a highly recognizable visual rhythm across the range.

Instead of relying on animal photography, I developed a minimal graphic system based on clean icons and simple forms. This helped keep the packaging visually light, easy to navigate, and much more scalable as the line expanded. Straightforward typography supported quick reading and reinforced the overall clarity of the system.
Result
The result was a brand that felt fresh, structured, and emotionally engaging without relying on visual excess. 2U stood out through the strength of its idea and the consistency of its execution, showing how a simple concept, when applied across naming, product logic, and packaging, can create a memorable and scalable identity in a crowded market.
